Do you recognize this ewe?
In 1996, Dolly the Sheep was born in Scotland.
Her birth was given as much press as the baby in the manger.
Her teeth became the envy of half of the British Empire.
Dolly was not the offspring of sheep-love.
She is the by-product of science & controversy.
In the entire history of planet Earth,
Dolly the Sheep was the first mammal successfully cloned
from an adult cell.
All of the above information is readily available
at the flick of a google-search. As is the fact
that Dolly lived for seven years.
But like statistics, science conceals as much as it reveals.
Dolly the Sheep did not live in sheepish submission.
Her every whim and fancy was catered to by human sheep!
The human sheep did not address their master as "Dolly."
They called her Sappho.
The three girls had a pet name for their master but they did sing along
with Satchmo whenever the Clone of Hearts entered the garden: Hello Dolly!

Footnotes
The human sheep came from here and the diagram came from there.
The image of Dolly, with that exquisite smirk, originated elsewhere.
