Good Artists, Great Artists & The Greatest Artists

____________________________________________________________________________________

........... IF GOOD ARTISTS BORROW AND GREAT ARTISTS STEAL ..........
THEN THE GREATEST ARTISTS ARE THE ONES MOST STOLEN FROM

Exhibit A:

The title of the musical is taken from Abba's 1975 chart-topper Mamma Mia

A 20-year-old young woman, is preparing to marry.
She wants her father to walk her down the aisle,
but doesn't know who he is.

She discovers her mother's old diary and finds entries
which describe intimate dates with three men.

Exhibit B:

This novel was new in 1962
when the New York Times
did a review.
But now it is time
to break the rhyme...

The author has hit upon one of the happiest imaginable and most original of plot contrivances.

Three men of mature years are separately caused to suspect...they had sired a son, out of holy wedlock.

The 26-year-old boy's search for a true father begins after reading his mother's cryptic diary.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MAMMA MIA was written by British playwright, Catherine Johnson.
Since its 1999 debut, over 54 million people all around the world
have fallen in love with the characters, the story and the music
that make MAMMA MIA the ultimate feel-good show!

DAWN POWELL wrote The Golden Spur.
It was the last of her thirteen published novels.

On September 25, 1957, Ms. Powell wrote in her diary:
Fear is what I despise–I despise it because I know it.

Is that the ultimate feel-bad quote?

The following month, future playwright Catherine Johnson was born.
I prefer to think that early in the next decade, Mamma Johnson selected
THE GOLDEN SPUR as bed-time reading for her precocious daughter.

Or maybe Mamma J...just turned out the lights and dramatically recited
the "Fear is what I despise" quote, terrifying her precocious daughter
who then vowed to grow up and write the ultimate feel-good show.

Thus, applying Through The Looking Glass Logic, 54 million people
fell in love with the literature of Dawn Powell!

Fear can also be the greatest motivator known to mankind & womankind.

I also prefer to think I think I have proven that Dawn Powell
was one of the greatest artists of the 20th Century.
If you don't believe me, would you believe Ernest Hemingway?

The next Dawn Powell page is here.
