Did She See Into The Future?

______________________________________________________________________________________

In 1938,

"Social Surrealist"
O. Louis Guglielmi
painted a  bridge
on the verge
of collapse

The painting is entitled
MENTAL GEOGRAPHY

Amongst its many features
are choreographed cables
and a passive, placid
(but arrow-pierced)   -------->
young woman

The bridge that inspired
Mr. Guglielmi is named
after Brooklyn

In 1940,

This photograph was taken
but it has nothing to do
with an artist's
imagination

TACOMA NARROWS
was a bridge in Seattle
that collapsed on
11/7/40

GALLOPING GERTIE
could have described
the woman in the
other image

Most unfortunately,
it applies to a
real disaster.

Footnote
There is another Guglielmi painting here.
