Formerly, A Bully Pulpit

____________________________________________________________________________________

THEN...

The little blue boy
in the front of the school bus
is the only one
who is
not one of us

The little boy
with his eyes in a book
is the only one
with a different look

We all shout and scream
and laugh with glee
he, the bus driver’s dream,
has a knobby red knee

He is wearing
a blue beret
who, amongst us,
will fling it away?

Oh, Lord

let it be me!

AND NOW...

The little blue boy
became a full grown man
I wash his car
as often as i can

It’s okay
that he calls me “Flipper”
it’s okay because
he’s a generous tipper.

The poem was unintentionally inspired by Ms. CarPeo.

Only a muse can do that sort of thing.
