Poem Stolen From Dawn Powell

______________________________________________________________________________________

Dawn Powell
Turn, Magic Wheel
(a/k/a her Hemingway novel)
Some fine day
you'll have to pay

The price
won't be nice
if you sacrifice

Everything in life–
including strife–

To curiosity.
It will not be pretty.

Knowing everything
about everyone
has a limit to its fun

There goes a lady in red–
so begins your game–

Learn everything about her
everything except her name

Footnotes
It has been sixty-six days since the last Dawn Powell page.

Were it not for Mrs. CarPeo, Mother CarPeo, some Peetnik moments,
and a racketball championship, I would not have survived.

There are fifty-six Dawn Powell pages (including 2 honorable mentions)
in Good/GodFather Land.

Any profits realized from this "stolen" poem will ideally be donated
to Dawn Powell's favorite place on earth: Greenwich Village.

However, this page comes with a disclaimer,
otherwise known as the next Dawn Powell page.

  1. Inspired rather than stolen
    Shaken not stirred
