To Percy From Shelley

____________________________________________________________________________________

If any fans of the 19th Century poet Percy Bysshe Shelley were misdirected to this page,
please accept these words from a 20th Century poet, Kurt Vonnegut:

Peculiar travel suggestions are dancing lessons from God.

The "Shelley" named in the title refers to  another 20th Century muse: Shelley Pryor.
In 1975,  Ms. Pryor became the first true poet  to recite an original epic poem
on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE  while having the entire stage to herself.

If the current season of SNL offered 1% of the enlightenment & entertainmant
imbedded in Shelley Pryor's poem about the carousel in Central Park,
I would seriously alter my TV viewing habits.

The "Percy" named in the title is Walker Percy,
the author of an utterly prophetic 1961 quote.

The formatting of the poetic wisdom is mine.

In our time liars and thieves,
and whores and adulterers wish also to be congratulated and are congratulated
by the great public if.......................
their confession is sufficiently
psychological or strikes
a sufficiently heartfelt
and authentic note
of sincerity.

Walker Percy
The Moviegoer
(1961)
