Will page 134 of Letters To Milena give new meaning to the word Kafkaesque?
Milena Jesenska translated Franz Kafka's stories
from German to Czechoslovokian.
They met in 1920.
LETTERS TO MILENA is one of twelve

Milena Jesenska
(1896-1944)
Her 1920 translation
of THE STOKER
is the first translation
of a Kafka story into
any foreign language.
Franz Kafka
(1883-1924)
In 1939, shortly after the Germans occupied Prague,
Milena entrusted the letters to the care of her friend
Willy Haas, the editor of this volume.
Milena died in 1944 in a German concentration camp.
Unfortunately, her own letters to Kafka
were not preserved.

Footnotes
The two paragraphs at the bottom of the page are from
the back cover of LETTERS TO MILENA.
Mrs. ©arPeo designed the image on top of this page.
She calls it a "Kafka pillow on a kickstand."
Mr. ©arPeo said "Maybe...
We can sell it to K-Mart."
The next Kafka page is here.
*According to the 1970 edition
of this book.
In 2014, I would need the fingers
and toes of ten people to count
all the Schocken publications
(and re-publications) of books
written by–or about–
Franz Kafka.
