Adan & Eva Without Adan

______________________________________________________________________________________

Eva climbed  twelve-steps
without her Adan...
Why?

She did it just
to prove she can...
And

She was fed food
by a thumbsy man!

After she was fed

the blue-eyed girl said:

Nothing beatsa  slice of pizza!

Tall Men & Ostrich Eggs

______________________________________________________________________________________

If this walking man

needed an ostrich egg

He might say

Brother, can you spare an egg?

And his brother would say

I sure can, Brother

The brothers are Alberto & Diego Giacometti.

 Alberto was 13 months older.

Both sculptors worked in the same studio.

Alberto Giacometti
(1901-1966)
who created  The Walking Man

Diego Giacometti
(1902-1985)
who created  The Ostrich Egg

All brothers
should be
so accommodating!

Reducibly Jimi Hendrix: Proper/Improper & Reciprocated

Once upon a time
I "raised my freak flag high!"
but Time + Experience
changes things
Footnote
For many years, a very large poster of  Jimi Hendrix
graced the walls  of an inner-city classroom.

A balloon caption in the framed poster
mathematically corrupted the lyrics to  If 6 Was 9.

In the background of a photograph featured
in the  March 13, 1996  Los Angeles Times,
the Hendrix poster is visible.

The  2nd-Generation photographs above
are the copyrighted property of LCSoL.

But this website welcomes inquiries
regarding usage or purchase
of both images.

As Jimi might have said:
Proper & Improper are only
the names of fractions.

And now...possibly prefaced by an advert
6 + 9   seconds in length... I present a song
from the Jimi Hendrix Experience:
© If 6 Was 9.

Once upon a time, there was the GodFather of Math.
It features a handful of pages about Jimi Hendrix.

Those pages can be found by searching for–
verbatim– Jimi Hendrix "Godfather of Math"
But the most interesting of those pages is  here.

You may preface that link with this hint:
Once upon a time,  Jimi Hendrix–a superstar in England–
was virtually unknown in these good old United States.

Way Down Upon A Pawny River

______________________________________________________________________________________

 A Poem by Mrs. CarP
Media pays the poor in dreams
 Media pays the dreamy well
Media lets us peek it seems
Media tells us "you can go to hell."

But on that trip to hell
 They ring the dinner bell
To distract with what they sell
"Buy our garbage. Don't rebel."

3.5 Questions From Dawn Powell

For the New York Times review, Click there.

Was it true that this world was filled
with men and women merely
marking time before
their cemetery?

When did courage's lease expire,
was there no renewal possible?

What specialist in mediocrity
determined the prize winners
and ruled what measure
of banality was required
for success?

The Wind Cries Mary
After all the jacks are in their boxes,
and the clowns have all gone to bed,
you can hear happiness
staggering on down the street,
footprints dress in red.

And the wind whispers Mary.

A broom is drearily sweeping
up the broken pieces of yesterday's life.
Somewhere a Queen is weeping,
somewhere a King has no wife.

Sumerians Look On In Confusion As God Creates World

According to recently
excavated clay tablets
inscribed with
cuneiform
tablets,

thousands of Sumerians—the first humans to establish systems of writing, agriculture, and government—
were working on their sophisticated irrigation systems when
the Father of All Creation reached down from the ether
and blew the divine spirit of life
into their thriving civilization...

Nicanor Parra: The Next Centenarian

______________________________________________________________________________________

People visit a photographic exhibition in honour
of  Chilean poet Nicanor Parra in Santiago, on August 19, 2014.
 THE LAST TOAST

Whether we like it or not,

We have only three choices:

Yesterday, today and tomorrow.

And not even three

Because as the philosopher says

Yesterday is yesterday

It belongs to us only in memory:

From the rose already plucked

No more petals can be drawn.

The cards to play

Are only two:

The present and the future.

And there aren't even two

Because it's a known fact
The present doesn't exist

Except as it edges past

And is consumed...

like youth.

In the end

We are only left with tomorrow.

I raise my glass

To the day that never arrives.

But that is all

we have at our disposal.
Nicanor Parra

The Chilean poet, mathematician, and physicist
will be celebrating  his one hundredth birthday
two weeks from today on September 5, 2014.
¡Feliz cumpleaños!

"I've got a new acronym: Big CATS."

"Is this related to the Big Game
we played a few weeks ago?"

"Big game?"

"The one where everything we said
began with I believe in a God who...?"

"Yes! Of Course. I'm glad one of us
can remember the games we play."

"So who are the Big CATS?"

"The Creators of All Things."

"Shouldn't that be Big CAT?"

"No. Because there are 2 creators,
 I pluralize the word."

"Of course: God & Godette!"

"Exactly. They are also known as Mr. & Mrs. God"

"They are known by as many names as there are religions."

"Right. Anyway...In the embryonic days of existence,
oceans and rivers were easy for the Big CATS:
all they  had to do was add water."

"Sounds simple enough."

"The sun and the stars were self-standing light fixtures.
But mountains were a problem because Mr. God,
sitting at the drafting table, used simple folds of paper
  as a model.
"Meanwhile,   from across the room came a chant
  of ‘Boring! Boring!’"

"Was that Mrs. God–I mean Godette?"

"It certainly was. And she said:
'I have an idea on how to shape the mountains.'
Godette, being a creator and being a woman,
 naturally created beauty."

"Sounds logical."

"Godette was beautiful enough to make
Marilyn Monroe look like Marilyn Manson.
Her body had the kind of curves  that make
  people dream in stereo."

"So what was her idea?"

"She placed a red silk sheet on the floor...
Then stretched her stunningly gorgeous naked body
  across the silken surface."

"Holy odalisque!"

"And then there were mountains!"

The Difference Between Information And Intelligence

______________________________________________________________________________________

09/10/01
There were nineteen dossiers,
each in the sole possession
of nineteen different agents.

Each dossier finely detailed
the daily behavior and lifestyle
of nineteen different "suspects."

Each of those dossiers contained information:
very elaborate and articulated information.

But none of those dossiers contained intelligence

If intelligence were involved, the dossiers
would have all been common knowledge
to each of the nineteen agents.
