I first saw the photograph in 1999
It was on a bedside stand of "our brother Paul"
alongside seven other photographs of the eight Oliverio siblings.
Providence had arranged that California Paul's
annual summer visit to New York coincided
with the death of the original Paul Oliverio
A decade later, Aunt Sissy–Paul's widow–
gave me the photograph while we were eating
Italian pastries at her dining table.
It was my first–and only–visit to her retirement condo.
I re-photographed my Mother's truncated handwriting
before re-photographing her and my Father.
But the original photograph is prominently featured
in my extremely eclectic bamboo-framed Family Wall of Fame.
All of those pictures have been homaged
in the GODFATHER OF MATH
Some more than others.
