Swimming Heroics With Two Alerts

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Alert #1: This is a poorly doctored image but please read on...

If Linda Oliverio had been named Diana Neptune, I would have
returned to shore long before
my sister got there.

Diana Neptune would swim vertically, abandoning all pursuers in her wake.

In 1958, Linda Oliverio swam horizontally–thirty feet from shore.
In vain, her inner-tubed, swan-stroking little brother tried to distract Linda from her "serious swim time."

That summer, come rain or shine,
my sister was swimming round-trip
between "Nautilus" and "Hallock,"
the endpoints of a private beach
in a town called Rocky Point

On her best days, Linda swam
brotherlessly.

Alert #2: This is an unflattering sepia-toned image of Diana Nyad but...

If you were capable of swimming 110 miles from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage,
the world would forgive you for wearing a gender-defying jellyfish mask

Not until the summer of 2013 has a member of the human race, unaided by a shark cage,
swam the entire distance across the Florida Strait.

Exponential kudos are in order for Diana Nyad

Let us all stand up and cheer her death-defying accomplishment.
It had to be the best day of her life. Jellyfish-worshipers be damned!

But who can answer this question:
How many media appearances of Diana Nyad will be introduced by the song WHEN I'M SIXTY-FOUR?
