Happy Birthday, #118

______________________________________________________________________________________

Leonardo DiCaprio should be singing
this post-humous birthday song
for F. Scott Fitzgerald
louder than anyone.

Scott Fitzgerald
He was born on September 24, 1896
Leonardo not only starred in THE GREAT GATSBY
but it has been rumored that DiCaprio will portray
F. Scott Fitzgerald in the FSF novel-turned-biopic

Anyway, here is the song:

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to Scott

Your brilliance is everything
That this sad world is not!

FYI:

Fitzgerald is credited, in the Oxford English Dictionary
with the first citations of the words T-shirtdaiquiri,
stinko (slang meaning ‘of a very low standard’),
and even wicked (as in ‘excellent’ or ‘remarkable’).

With the exception of stinko (which comes from a letter of 1924),
all of these early uses of these words are found in Fitzgerald’s
first novel, This Side of Paradise.

Perhaps this earlier novel deserves more recognition?

The next Fitzgerald page is here.

A gift from the Scott & Zelda Fitzgerald Museum
