THEN
The
little blue boy
in
the back of the bus
is
the only one who is
not
one of us.
The
little boy with
his
eyes in a book
is
the only one with
a
different look.
We
all shout and scream
and
laugh with glee.
He,
the bus driver’s dream,
has
a knobby red knee.
Bespectacled,
with a blue beret
who,
amongst us, will fling it away?
NOW
Little blue boy is now
a
full grown man.
I wash his car
as
often as I can.
It’s
okay that he
calls
me “Flipper.”
I say it's
okay because
he’s
a generous tipper.
