The Godfather Of CarPeo (#1 In A Series Of 4)

____________________________________________________________________________________

In a former incarnation
in a European nation...

Paul Peaux did pose–
vest-to-nose–
with a hound named
FoundFame

Carol, then 10 years old,
to Parrain, the marble rolled
Parrain did carve and mold...
Imagination takes hold

Time travel is  fun–a game of chance
where you do the calendar dance
with friends, artists, uncles or  aunts
Thus we visit 19th Century France

To translate Parrain
I'll save you the bother
It is French for Godfather

Time travel is pure play-act
But now I must respect fact:

THE CROWN PRINCE
AND HIS DOG, NERO
(1865)

JEAN BAPTISTE CARPEAUX
(1827-1875)

The artist's name rhymes with Harpo

This series continues here.

  1. Travel closer to
    Algonquin's table
    For a glimpse
    Of the fabled
    Faces with their quips
    Rolling off their
    Clever lips
    Waiting for the dawn.

  2. ...Waiting for Dawn Powell, that is, to refill thier cups
when all the quips are gone

  4. Either way, she never got credited
for all her quips that supposedly came from
    Dorothy Parker!
